So yesterday was the first of my two concerts this week. I did something I don’t usually do, and will NEVER do again. I took the train to NYC. I am not a train kind of guy. I drive to the city. I hate being controlled by New Jersey Transit.
…I digress…
So… my friends and I met up on NJT and we got to NYC in what seemed like a flash. It seems that when you are with good friends on the train, it can go really fast. So we hop on the subway and go up to Times Square to have a delicious lunch at Junior’s. I had the biggest Matzoh Ball soup and Cheeseburger I think I’ve ever had. Then my life was changed. I had a slice of Junior’s Plain Cheesecake. I mean seriously a life changing experiences.
So we left and started to head to the Summer Stage at Central Park. I stupidly wore shorts and it was really cold. So I pulled an Alli and stopped at the Gap for a costume chage. Not without knocking down two shelves of jeans. I thought the security man was going to rip my head off. So after a quick stop at the GAP we arrived at the summer stage. What a cute venue, I would guess there was a couple thousand people there all sitting on this astroturf thing and a huge set of bleachers…
…So Matt Nathanson comes out. I have seen a lot of concerts/shows. There are very few people that sound just as good or better than their recordings. Matt Nathanson is one of those people. Even if I didn’t know the song I found myself being swept away by the lyrics and performance. Of course he didn’t play my favorite song. He really only played like 10 songs and thats not a lot when you think that he has like 6 CDS. Then the Indigo Girls came out. They were amazingly talented too. Now, I wouldn’t know the Indigo Girls if they smacked me in the face. I was really familiar with one of their songs, the rest had that I think I’ve heard that before feel to them. The hightlight of the concert for me was when Matt came out and sang with them.
All in all it was an amazing day with two of my best friends.
PS - We had to stop back at Juniors to bring back Cheesecake for the house.
